Traveling with huge amounts of currency is not a suggested practice. Traveller's Cheques are one of the recognized forms of international currency. For safety reasons it is advisable to carry currency in the form of Traveller's Cheques. They serve as a backup for credit.

They are accepted at millions of financial institutions and merchants around the world. They are issued in the most popular currencies, including U.S. Dollars, Pound Sterling, euro, Japanese Yen, and Canadian Dollars. They are safe and refundable in case of theft. The exchange rate of these Checks depends on the conversion rate on the day of the credit transaction.

There is a 1% or core commission charge for Traveller's Cheques purchases. Buying Traveller's Cheques in small denominations means carrying a bulkier package of checks with you, but it also means that you have greater control over the amount of Currency you receive each time you cash one or more of these checks.

Most shops, hotels, restaurants and attractions accept Traveller's Cheques. Most of the international airports also have exchange counters. Generally hotels offer a low exchange rate compared to banks.

Most banks are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

US Currency

The currency of USA is the American dollar divided into 100 cents, normally written as $ or US$. It is usually issued in denominations of $ 1, $ 5, $ 10, $ 20, $ 50, $ 100 etc. Coins are issued in denominations of 1 cent, 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents and 50 cents, popularly known as penny, nickel, dime, quarter and half-dollar respectively.

You could exchange your country's currency for US Dollars at major airports, banks and private exchange companies. Hotels as a rule, do not provide a currency exchange service. Most banks in USA are open Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 6.00 p.m. and on Saturdays, from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.

US Dollars Traveller's Cheques are the safest way to travel with large amounts and they are accepted at most locations.
