Accommodation, Shopping, Getting Around Singapore

By Mike. W

Accommodation in Singapore is available at all levels and for all kinds of travelers. You probably see one of the finest hotels in the world, as this is the hub for trade in South-East Asia. You could also find inexpensive hotels for $35 to $50 per day.

Generally the real estate is very expensive in Singapore being a small country. Everything related to land is little expensive. The hotel rates are fairly expensive compared to the other Asian countries.

Most of the shopping areas have small food shops that cater food with extensive menu. They also have the India town, China town where you see more restaurants catering food from each of these cultures. The food shops, especially Chinese are open till 2 A.M. You see people sitting together at these little food shops till 2 A.M. and having their late dinners.

A city map from the hotel is a very helpful guide to go around in the city. With the map you could even walk around in many of the major areas. You could catch a cab anytime during night or day by standing in the Taxi Stand or by waving to the Taxi from the pavement. The taxis generally pull over to the curb and you could quickly enter into the Taxi.

You require either coins or a calling card to use the public telephones in the city. You could buy a smart card in vending machines or hotels that you could use in all the public telephones in Singapore. International credit cards are accepted in majority of the places. Little food shops take only cash.

Be prepared for an experience with the Food and Travel in Singapore..
