Traveller's Cheques
Travelling with huge amounts of currency is not a suggested practice. Traveller's Cheques are one of the recognized forms
of international currency. For your safety, it is advisable to carry currency in the form of Traveller's Cheques. They also serve as a backup for credit.

They are accepted at most finanicial institutions and merchants in Singapore. They are issued in the most popular currencies, including U.S. Dollars, Pound Sterling, Euro, Japanese Yen, and Canadian Dollars. They are safe and refundable in case of theft. The exchange rate of these checks depends on the conversion rate on the day of the credit transaction.

You can purchase Traveller's Cheques at thousands of financial institutions and other locations around the world. Some of the most popular Traveller's Cheques are:

Thomas Cook

American Express

A 1% core commission is charged on purchases made using traveller's cheques. Buying Traveller's Cheques in small denominations means carrying a bulkier package of checks with you, but it also means that you have greater control over the amount of currency you receive each time you cash one or more of these checks.

Most shops, hotels, restaurants and attractions accept Traveller's Cheques. Most of the international airports also have exchange counters. Generally hotels offer a low exchange rate compared to banks.
