English, Computer Science, and MBA courses are favorite subjects of study by foreign nationals. A Singapore citizen, Singapore P.R. or the school or institute where the applicant intends to study can be a local sponsor for the application for a student's pass.

The following documentation is required for a student pass application

• Letter of acceptance from the school,
• Travel documents,
• Identity card of local sponsor,
• Birth certificate,
• Educational certificates,
• Parent's marriage certificate. Singapore P.R. or the school or institute where the applicant intends to study

The local sponsor should furnish a security bond and security deposit in the form of a cashier's order for the amount of S$5,000 for students from the P.R.C.

Holders of dependent's pass, employment pass, long term social visit pass, work permit and children of Singapore P.R. may be exempted from the requirements of security bond. Students Pass holders are not allowed to work and if caught working illegally their Visas would be canceled, they would be deported, and their security bond forfeited. The student pass holder shall not enter as a student in any other schools or courses other than that indicated on the student's pass.
