Transit could be 30 minutes or 36 hours based on the travel destination, airlines and the route. Some parts of the transit is made by choice and some comes from the airlines.

Business travelers take the route where there is less transit and fewer stops. Leisure travelers could take the route where the transit time is more and gives the time to visit the City and any Friends/Family.

Proper planning helps to utilize the transit time to handle business, visit a new city or meet a friend. Leisure travelers could take city tours (if time is sufficient) and could be taken from the airports most of the time.

Hotel and Boarding facilities are provided during Transit based on the airlines and destination and Ticket Class. Most major airports have internal facilities to stay short-term (generally called day rooms). There is generally at least one Major Hotel attached to these airports. It is inexpensive to stay in the day room if you are there for a short time and taking a connecting flight or going on a visit to the city.

Though transit is seen as an inconvenience by several travelers, proper planning would really make it an enjoyable experience.

Most airports have facilities to have Food and relax during the Transit. If you are leaving the airport to take care of business or a city tour, it is important to learn about the visa requirements. Based on your nationality, you could find out from the airline or the visiting country's consulate if you require a visa. Several countries provide a temporary visa after you arrive at the airport. It is advised to learn about this before leaving.

Additional help or questions could always be checked with the Airlines agent at the Airport.
